Political Watch: September Issue #5 09/25/2009
September 23 - The internet's great and all, but it needs more government! Julius Genachowski is the new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission. He gave a speech in which he rightly stated that, "...we can't imagine what our lives would be like without the Internet." and likens it to light bulbs and running water. However his speech took a sharp turn towards what patriots fear most...more government. Genachowski believes it is the job of the FCC to provide access and not the market. On top of that, it has come to light that the Obama administration has been spying on American citizens. According to a Washington Times article, they have been, "...collecting and storing comments and videos placed on its social-networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube without notifying or asking consent of the site users...:" We know that the Bush administration abused the privacy of citizens; why should we give a pass to the candidate who promised transparent government?
