January, 9th, Study: Fluoridation Benefits Doubtful

Throughout the years we've been told that fluoride is good for our teeth. Based on this information, governments around the country have injected fluoride into our water systems. Now studies are coming out that show fluoride may not be as safe as previously thought. Will the government be as willing to remove fluoride as they were to add it or are there other factors in play?

 
 

January 14th, Jason Mumpower loses in TN House Speaker race

Although TN House Republicans felt confident Jason Mumpower was a shoe-in for the position of House Speaker, one of their own spolied the deal. With the race close, all 49 House Democrats voted for Republican Kent Williams, while 49 House Republicans voted for Mumpower. The deciding vote went to Williams who voted for...himself! This caused such outrage that the TN Republican Party's executive committe signed a document challenging the "bona fide" status of Williams as a Republican. Kind of makes you wonder why the Republicans are upset that the Democrats voted Republican! Watch out voters, vote how they tell you to or you're out!

 
 

January 16th, Peggy Lambert Appointed to the Blount County Commission

According to a Daily Times article, a last-second nomination by commissioner Ron French resulted in Peggy Lambert being appointed to the seat left vacant by Bob Ramsey. Ms. Lambert will represent District #5 until 2010. The nomination letter was not submitted until close of business the Wednesday before the commission meeting. Mayor Jerry Cunningham is quoted as saying this was done, "to shield Peggy from the hatred and terrible comments and cheap shots that are being taken at her from the blogs." It would seem, however, that if the candidate has nothing to hide, then "terrible comments and cheap shots" should not have affected her in the first place..
