July 21 - Didn't you get the invitation?

During the months of January and May, our Tennessee legislators were treated to a total of $437,000 in parties, receptions, buffet lunches, and tailgates. Legislators were invited to attend and enjoy these events with "special interests, quasi-governmental groups funded with tax dollars and some of the state's largest businesses with bill before the General Assembly."

And you think they'll listen to you?

Parent's, stop drugging your children!

The FDA is at it again. That's right, everyone's favorite breakfast cereal, Cheerios is now considered contraband! According to General Mills, eating Cheerios can help lower your cholesterol. Because of this claim, the FDA states that it affects your health and they can regulate it. If General Mills refuses, the FDA will pull Cheerios from the shelves until they comply with all the red tape and rules that are imposed upon them.

Folks, this is your government.

If we don't learn from history, we are destined to repeat it.

"On March 5, 1933, in the depths of the banker engineered “Great Depression,” newly elected Franklin Roosevelt declared a “bank holiday” that forced banks closed for four days. Roosevelt then rammed the Emergency Banking Act through the legislature. Passed by Congress on March 9, the act granted FDR near dictatorial control over the dealings of banks. It also allowed the Secretary of the Treasury the power to compel every person and business in the country to relinquish their gold and accept paper currency in exchange."

It seems the Obama administration has another bank holiday planned for September of this year...are you ready?

The more things change...

In an effort to increase transparency the Obama administration is continuing the Bush administration's policy of blocking access to the White House's visitor list. This despite an Obama campaign pledge to usher in a new era of open government. Bush the third indeed...

Warren Buffet's trillion cents

Billionaire Warren Buffet says that unemployment may go above 10%, that the company has no "bounce". His solution...more medicine, and by medicine he means trillions more of your money. Although he does admit that there may be "side effects" such as inflation. But don't worry, Warren will be fine.

High taxes kill American jobs

The CEO of Microsoft, Steven Ballmer, said an increased tax on their business would cause them to move jobs overseas. Folks, whether or not you want to admit it, businesses exist to make money, period. The more that is taken away from them through taxation, the less they will be to remain in countries with high tax rates. Any questions?

May 12, 2009 - Who's watching the FCC?

Do you own a cordless phone, a remote car-door opener, a cell phone? These, and many more everyday items, have apparently caught the attention of the all-powerful FCC. According to the "Communications Act" of 1934, the FCC "...claims the right to enter your home without a warrant at any time of the day or night in order to inspect it."

And you just thought they were there to take the bad words out of movies...
Give the government an inch, and they'll take your freedom.

May 26, 2009 - North Korea, Iran, and nuclear weapons...oh my!

A piece of legislation titled the "Iran Diplomatic Enhancement Act" is being discussed in Congress. This act would ban US and European companies from supplying Iran with refined petroleum products. These are the same type of actions which got us into World War II. Could war with Iran be coming?

And if that wasn't enough, North Korea announced it had successfully launched and tested a nuclear device.

Can't we all just get along?

May 23, 2009 - Brother, can you spare a dime?

Barack Obama was recently interviewed on C-SPAN.
Question: "You know the numbers, $1.7 trillion debt, a national deficit of $11 trillion. At what point do we run out of money?"

Answer: "Well, we are out of money now..."

So the answer to having no money is more spending?
Had enough?

May 27, 2009 - When did judges start ignoring the Constitution?

Barack Obama has named a nominee for the Supreme Court opening being vacated by Justice Souter. Her name is Sonia Sotomayor. While there are some issues on which she seems to be on the Constitution's side, she comes across as anti-2nd Amendment and is a proponent of affirmative action (which is nothing more than forcing companies to hire people based on race or ethnicity). Is it too much to ask that a Supreme Court Justice follow the ENTIRE Constitution?
